Superior Jetties wins $5 million ADYS marina contract

Australia’s Superior Jetties, in conjunction with its UAE joint-venture partners Al Masaood, has won the $5 million contract to build the marina which will facilitate the Abu Dhabi Yacht Show.
The permanent 350-metre by five-metre marina will be built at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre and will be designed to facilitate superyachts up to 90 metres.
Superior Jetties announced the coup in late December and when OCEAN went to press the Gold Coast-based company was under the pump to get the project underway.
“This is a very short timeframe for the project,” admitted Superior Jetties managing director, John Hogan.
“However our team has responded to the challenge by increasing output before the Christmas shutdown to meet the schedule. “There is an extensive network of people in Australia, the UAE office and Europe who have combined to make this a reality. We are very pleased to be the first Gold Coast company to construct a superyacht marina, as we expect there will be more projects like this in Queensland in the future.”

Australia’s Superior Jetties will build the superyacht marina for the inaugural Abu Dhabi Yacht Show

Abu Dhabi to host region’s first superyacht-only show

The organisers of the Monaco Yacht Show, Informa Yacht Group (IYG), have announced they will stage the inaugural Abu Dhabi Yacht Show, which will take place from 12-14 March 2009.
IYG is tapping into growing demand for superyachts in the Emirates – enough to dedicate the entire show to yachts from 30 metres to 100 metres.
The ADYS will be the region’s first yacht show reserved exclusively for superyachts and it is expected that over 18 of the world’s leading examples will be on display at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.
Brands such as CRN, Custom Line, Ferretti, Wally Yachts, YachtPlus, Art Marine, Bennetti and local manufacturer Gulf Craft have confirmed their attendance and will display their finest yachts to attendees.
“The Abu Dhabi Yacht Show will feature discriminating yachts of distinction, power and luxury,” said ADYS group director, Franck Dailles.

“With the participation of the world’s leading yachting companies and ADNEC’s spectacular venue – with its specially-built superyacht berthing canal – the ADYS is set to creat a new standard in the world of yachting industry events.”
A number of major names in the superyacht world will be out to impress prospective owners during the show.
Wally yachts will showcase the world’s fastest motor yacht, the Wallypower 118, a 118-foot luxury high performance superyacht with a maximum speed of 60 knots (110km/h).
Westport Yachts has confirmed it will display the W310, an elegant tri-deck motor yacht with five staterooms including an on-deck master stateroom, a skylounge with bar, an outdoor spa tub and curved sun lounge.
Local producer Gulf Craft, which is based in the UAE, will showcase its three brands – Majesty Yachts, Oryx sports yachts and Silver Craft.
The ADYS will also feature a number of special events and activities to create networking opportunities, including the Superyacht Fashion Show at the Emirates Palace, a charity auction gala dinner, cocktail party, business conferences and a golf tournament.

OCEAN Media, one of the Official Media representatives will be showcasing their magazines; OCEAN, The Great Southern Route and Offshore Yachting.

Marine industry set to explode in Fiji

Adrenalin South Pacific, the region’s largest and most experienced marine based business is about to accept a new superyacht to Fiji, a sign of the growing marine industry in the South Pacific.

MV Bel Mare, a luxury power catamaran, is on the Dockwise Transport Vessel - Super Servant 4, and is due to arrive in Fiji in March 2009. After completing a number of successful charter seasons in the Mediterranean, the new owner decided that the South Pacific, and in particular Fiji, would become it’s new home.

Adrenalin Director - Ben Doggett – believes that this new arrival is just the start of the new Superyacht Industry set for growth in Fiji. “Fiji for years has been one of the top Superyacht cruising grounds in the world, but for one reason or another had never achieved it’s full potential. But now with government support and fantastic new initiatives regarding visiting yachts and superyacht charter programmes we expect there to be significant growth of visiting yachts to Fiji in the coming years” Fiji, with over 330 islands, represents one of the most unique cruising grounds in the world due to it’s uncrowded waters, amazing diving, crystal clear water and magnif! icent islands. The Fijian government is supporting this niche segment by providing a new National Yacht Charter Policy. Ben Doggett believes that these actions can only lead to great results.

“Whilst Fiji contains a unique location for boating, the greater region – from Vanuatu/New Caledonia in the West and Tonga/Samoa in the East – provide a magnificent cruising playground. That is why these initiatives by the Fijian Government are going to help the South Pacific to grow in stature to match the appeal of the Caribbean or Mediterranean – as enforced by the transfer of Bel Mare to Fiji from Italy.”

Adrenalin Marine South Pacific is marketing MV Bel Mare for charter in Fijian waters in conjunction with Fraser Yachts International. Adrenalin Marine South Pacific also provides Superyacht provisioning, and is the official distributor for premium boat brands such as The Riviera Group, Ferretti, Grand Banks, and BRP, amongst other leading brands. Sales of new boats recently have been fantastic, with a large number of new Riviera boats being sold by Adrenalin Marine to clients taking advantage of this unique location and situation.

“Adrenalin Marine South Pacific offers our clients the unique opportunity to have their new vessels delivered to Fiji and for up to 18 months enjoy the exploration of Fiji, before being transferred in a unique way to other locations in the South Pacific where we have our other offices and service sites. This managed program gives several unique benefits to new boat buyers, the major one being significant price benefits over vessels in nearby countries. The savings on new boat prices in fact, can be quite significant and represent great buying value for our clients.”

The future for the Fijian Marine industry looks very exciting, and should entrench Fiji as one of the premium boating destinations in the world. MV Bel Mare will be on display at the Auckland International boat show in March.
