Sydney City Marine office block development to open in June

Sydney City Marine will open an office building at the Rozelle Bay maritime precinct in June in what is rapidly becoming a new hub for the Sydney marine industry.
Construction has commenced on the Longitude building which, when completed shortly, will offer 4,332 square metres of office space with basement parking, ground floor café, retail space and a restaurant with sweeping views of Sydney Harbour.

The site is located beneath the western approach to the Anzac Bridge and is adjacent to Sydney City Marine’s recently-opened yacht refit and repair facility, which caters to yachts from 10 metres to 50 metres.
Also close by are the NSW Maritime offices and the Rozelle Bay superyacht marina.

The harbourside location should appeal marine businesses looking for offices close to the Sydney CBD, according to Sydney City Marine chairman, Darren McMullen.
“With completion now in sight we are excited that tenants will finally have access to all the advantages that this emerging waterside location can offer,” he said.
Sydney City Marine is already speaking to potential tenants.

The development offers a range of tenancy options with boutique offices up to entire floors of 1,200 square metres, some with views of the CBD and Harbour Bridge.

Peter Ryan back at Rivergate as Shipyard Supervisor

After a short break, Peter Ryan has returned to Rivergate as shipyard supervisor. Ryan initially joined the company when it opened in 2006, and was lured briefly back to the new construction market. However, Ryan missed the diversity and challenges of Rivergate’s busy yard and returned in March 2009.

“I love the work at Rivergate. In my career, I have been involved in over 20 large refits and have thoroughly enjoyed them. Rivergate’s reputation in the market continues to grow.

“The shipyard is full of local recreational boats as well as international superyachts completing major refits. There is a great buzz.”

AIMEX awarded government grants for Marine Industry Seminars

In co-operation with Enterprise Connect (DIISR), the Australian International Marine Export Group (AIMEX) and Australian Marine Industries Federation (AMIF) have been awarded a grant to host a total of 10 seminars to be held nationally throughout April and May in 2009. These seminars will assist marine industry manufacturing businesses to remain competitive, be innovative and develop appropriate business and manufacturing strategies to manage through the current economic downturn. Insight will be shared from Madison Cross Corporate Advisory on topics such as generating sales, diversification strategies, cost management, inventory management, export strategies and support, turnaround strategies and much more “Whilst most businesses would acknowledge they need additional knowledge and expertise in these areas most do not have the time to find it or cannot afford to pay for it. By running these workshops we hope to provide the knowledge and tools to allow the marine industry to be innovative, efficient and competitive and survive these difficult times,” AIMEX chief executive officer, MaryAnne Edwards, said. “We also see these times as more important than ever to develop opportunities where the industry can meet together with their peers to discuss issues that are affecting everyone in this climate, this type of networking within a seminar environment can be invaluable support for individuals struggling to know the best strategy to take in this market.” Seminars will be hosted in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
