Aurora recently managed the import clearance and delivery of a stunning 60ft Windy tender/chase boat. Though typically referred to as a “tender” to a larger vessel, this boat embarked on its own extraordinary journey, requiring precision and expertise every step of the way.
The adventure began when the boat arrived in Cairns, where our team handled the customs clearance. But the journey started much earlier. Just a couple of months prior, the yacht made its way to Port Klang, Malaysia as cargo. From there, it cruised around Southeast Asia, passing through places like Singapore, Jakarta, Bali, and finally, Sorong, before making its way into Cairns.
Once in Australia, Aurora took care of both Customs clearance and Biosecurity formalities. But the real challenge lay ahead: the boat’s final leg of the journey……..From Cairns, she was transported by road to Fremantle—an impressive 5,473 kilometres away. To put that in perspective, that’s about 58 hours of continuous driving. Moving a 60ft yacht across Australian roads is no small feat, and it’s certainly not something you see every day.
The other considerations for the final leg being coastal sea freight, or possibly motoring around the coast. Once all of the pros and cons were considered, the decision was made to go by road.
The success of this operation was driven by careful planning and collaboration. We mapped out the safest, most efficient routes, coordinated with local authorities to secure oversized load permits, and worked closely with our trusted transport partners to ensure the yacht’s safe arrival on time.
While Aurora Logistics is renowned for our expertise in international yacht transport, this project also underscores our domestic shipping capabilities. Whether by sea or land, we have the knowledge, resources, and commitment to move yachts and cargo across vast distances.
