We recently had the pleasure of assisting our colleague, Craig Stanbury from Peters and May UK, in the transportation of the renowned TP52 race yacht, “Hooligan,” all the way from Australia to the UK for her new owner. The task was no small feat, but with meticulous planning and teamwork, we ensured Hooligan’s safe and timely voyage.
One of the key challenges in this transport was dealing with Hooligan’s keel. To facilitate the process, the keel was carefully removed before the yacht was loaded into her low-position splash cradle. This approach allowed us to secure the keel beneath the yacht within the cradle’s footprint, ensuring a stable and secure fit.
Mast transportation presented its own set of challenges, which were met with precision and expertise. The mast was securely fastened along the yacht’s deck, preparing it for a single, seamless lift on and off the transporting vessel. This method minimized the risk associated with mast handling during the journey.
Aurora worked diligently to ensure the safe transport of Hooligan to Port Botany, where our vigilant loadmaster/surveyor oversaw the staging and lashing operations. Attention to detail and a commitment to safety were paramount throughout this phase.
Upon arrival in the UK, Peters and May took charge of arranging import clearance and the final delivery of Hooligan to her eagerly awaiting new owner on the picturesque Isle of Wight. The successful journey of “Hooligan” highlights the dedication and expertise that Aurora Logistics and Peters and May consistently bring to every project.
With each shipment, we continue to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to excellence, ensuring the safe and efficient relocation of cherished vessels like “Hooligan.” We look forward to more exciting ventures and the opportunity to meet the unique demands of more race yachts with the same level of dedication and expertise.
