BMSB Season 2022-2023 is just around the corner.
Here’s what you need to know!
BMSB seasonal measures will apply to targeted goods manufactured in or shipped from target risk countries, that have been shipped between 1 September 2022 and 30 April 2023 (inclusive), and to vessels that berth, load, or tranship from target risk countries within the same period.
If you wish to conduct your own research into target risk goods, target risk Countries and treatment requirements, you can visit the Department of Agriculture website here.
Alternatively, our trained Customs professionals are here to assist you.
In laymen terms – If you were importing during previous BMSB seasons, many of the rules remain unchanged.
Most importantly for importers of boats and yachts shipped as break-bulk cargo :– the policy requires MANDATORY OFFSHORE TREATMENT. Failure to treat in accordance with the rules at origin and penalty is harsh. Policy requires Department officials to order untreated boats/yachts to be re-exported from Australia. There is ZERO DISCRETION on this policy. Whilst we have not had a customer dealt this hand ourselves, we’re aware of 2 occurrences where European boats have been re-exported for treatment in Singapore.
