Until recently, pleasure craft were only required to report their pending arrival into Australia by following Australian Border Force (ABF) guidelines.
The ABF would in turn share details with their colleagues at the Dept of Agriculture (Biosecurity division).
Both Government Departments would then send officers to meet vessels at their nominated port of clearance, and complete arrival interviews and processes.
From the 1st of December 2023, the Dept of Agriculture requires all “non-commercial vessels” arriving in an Australian territory to submit a pre-arrival report (PAR).
The PAR must be submitted 90 days to 12 hours before arriving in an Australian territory.
This Dept of Agriculture weblink provides relevant information and the portal to the PAR reporting system: Non-commercial vessel arrival biosecurity reporting – yachts and private superyachts – DAFF (agriculture.gov.au).
Lodging of the PAR is a relatively simple process. Please reach out to one of our Customs professionals however if you have any questions or require assistance.
